Owners of small tech businesses, take note: The inaugural IMEX America trade show, which takes place October 11-13 at the Sands Expo in Las Vegas, has organized a technology competition. They're giving away booth space to companies to exhibit in the Techno-How Zone, a stand within the larger Technology Pavilion. Well-established suppliers need not apply -- the Techno-How Zone is designed specifically to spotlight innovation from companies three years old or less, with revenues under $1.5 million. Applicants can enter either a tech product or a service, which must be on the market with at least one paying customer. A panel of judges will select three winners, each receiving a free spot in the Techno-How Zone as well as an invite to the IMEX America Gala Party. Plus, of course, winners will be featured in marketing materials, paraded around for the press, and generally be made to feel warm and fuzzy. Entries must be submitted by April 29.
An as added incentive to draw crowds to the Zone, the trade show organizers also are putting together a Gadget Bar for that stand -- a hands-on, interactive display of all of the latest and coolest tech gadgets and gizmos most relevant to the industry. Techno-How winners can display their wares for free, if the products are gadgets, and other Tech Pavilion exhibitors also will have the opportunity to showcase their latest products there. See the IMEX America site for more details and a downloadable application.
