The $2.4 billion Revel
casino resort debuted this summer with 1,800 guest rooms, 160,000 square feet of indoor meeting space and 90,000 square feet of outdoor function space (including a pool, a "SkyGarden" and a fire-pit area). In addition to its casino, the resort offers the Bask spa with 32 treatment rooms, plus 14 restaurants, three clubs and a private beach.
Plans for an 850-room Hard Rock International
casino-hotel have been pushed back six months at the request of the developer (construction on the first phase had been set to begin this summer). The casino had been approved as part of a program that allows the development of smaller-scale casinos on the Boardwalk.
The 2,000-room Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa,
with more than 70,000 square feet of event space, has completed a $50 million redesign and upgrade its guest rooms and corridors.
The former Atlantic City Hilton Casino has been rebranded as the Atlantic Club Casino Hotel.
Hilton Hotels & Resorts announced last May that the 804-room gaming property would no longer fly the Hilton flag.
The 2,133-room Tropicana Atlantic City Casino & Resort
has unveiled two new group venues. The Anthem Lounge (formerly 32 Degrees) is a trendy nightspot featuring a 360-degree cylindrical screen and a photo booth with a live feed to same. The facility hosts private events for up to 150. Also new: Boogie Nights, a 1970s-themed club heavy on disco and Motown tunes, with space for groups of up to 700.
The Atlantic City Express Service,
known as the ACES train, was discontinued in March due to low ridership. The train, running to and from New York City, had been jointly operated by Harrah's Resort, Caesars Atlantic City and the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa.Atlantic City International Airport
is adding a federal inspection station, set for completion this year. The new facility will allow the airport to handle international carriers and air-service routes. The project, expected to cost about $25 million, will include a customs and border patrol facility, and an expanded baggage claim area that will provide space for customs to process international passengers.
