Construction is well under way on the 349-room Margaritaville hotel, to open in 2014 in Hollywood Beach. The $130 million property on the city's boardwalk will include a rooftop pool, 35,000 square feet of meeting space, a boat dock and a café.

The 296-room Bahia Mar Fort Lauderdale-a DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel completed a renovation of its guest rooms and 8,200-square-foot ballroom last December. The property, which offers bike and boat rentals, scuba diving and snorkeling lessons, has about 28,000 square feet of meeting space, complimentary wireless Internet and a 250-slip marina.

The 250-room DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Sunrise-Sawgrass Mills completed a $4 million renovation and rebranding this past April. The property offers 11 flexible meeting spaces and one ballroom, as well as an outdoor pool and whirlpool, complimentary Wi-Fi and some 2 million square feet of retail offerings in the Sawgrass Mills Mall, directly across the street.

The gaming floor at the Seminole Casino Coconut Creek has been doubled and now spans approximately 100,000 square feet after the completion of a $150 million expansion. The project also added more than 2,300 slot machines, 65 table games and an upscale high-limit area. The casino has six dining options, including NYY Steak.

The Port Everglades cruise terminal began a $54 million renovation project in March that will modernize four berths by the end of June 2013. Upgrades include Florida-themed artwork, larger baggage halls and improved ground transportation.

Young At Art MuseumThe Young At Art Museum, a children's arts-education complex, unveiled its new location in nearby Davie, Fla., in May. The 55,000-square-foot LEED-certified facility is available for events.

A package of perks awaits groups that book one of the six hotels in the city's Convention Collection, including free event space at the Broward County Convention Center; a one-hour welcome reception; a one-hour board-of-directors reception; a 10 percent discount off food and beverage, A/V, Internet and security staffing; and assistance with marketing materials.
