Local Update

The Omni Hotel at The Battery Atlanta is set to open in January 2018 with 264 guest rooms (including 28 suites), more than 20,000 square feet of meeting space, an elevated pool deck and bar overlooking The Battery Atlanta (a new mixed-use development under construction), and a signature restaurant, Achie's.

Solis Hotels and Resorts' first U.S. property will debut by year's end near Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The 214-room Solis Two Porsche Drive, designed by architecture firm HOK Atlanta and interior design group Peter Silling & Associates, is being built to complement the nearby Porsche Experience Center, where hotel guests will have access to site tours, exclusive driving experiences and more. Among other features are 6,500 square feet of meeting space, including a 3,600-square-foot ballroom, a restaurant and a rooftop lounge. Guests staying in the hotel's nine track-facing suites will have direct views of the Porsche Handling Course, which also can be viewed from the rooftop lounge.

Ground has been broken for Marriott's first dual-branded AC Hotels by Marriott and Moxy Hotel in the city. The $70 million, five-story project, scheduled to open in 2018, will include the 133-room AC Hotel Atlanta Midtown and the 155-room Moxy Atlanta Midtown. The properties will share meeting space, outdoor breakout space, a health and fitness center, and a rooftop pool and bar with outdoor fire pits. The development will include an Arts Walk -- a path that will allow hotel guests and residents alike to take a stroll from 14th Street to the Crescent Avenue entertainment and dining district as well as the Woodruff Arts Center.

Making news in midtown is the SLS Atlanta Hotel & Residences, a mixed-use development now being built and slated to debut in 2019. The property, featuring 214 guest rooms and 66 condos, will be two blocks from Atlanta's Piedmont Park.

The 250-room DoubleTree by Hilton Atlanta Perimeter Dunwoody has unveiled a $12 million transformation of its guest rooms and public spaces. The property has approximately 12,000 square feet of meeting space, including the Azalea Ballroom, which accommodates up to 700 people, and 11 meeting rooms. Other amenities include a market pantry, a 24/7 fitness center and pool, and complimentary WiFi.
