The Statue of Liberty will close to tourists late this month for a yearlong restoration.
A new 68-story Courtyard and Residence Inn Manhattan/Central Park
will open in late 2013. The property will house the 378-room Courtyard by Marriott
and 261-room Residence Inn by Marriott Broadway.
The hotels will have separate lobbies; Courtyard guest rooms will be on floors 6 through 32, and Residence Inn rooms will be on floors 36 through 64. On-site will be a restaurant, a lounge and terrace, and a fitness center.
The 463-suite Conrad Hotels & Resorts New York
is slated to open by year's end in downtown Manhattan. The property, formerly an Embassy Suites, has 17,000 square feet of meeting and event space.
The 116-room Hyatt 48 Lex
in Midtown is scheduled to open this month. The property has four meeting rooms, a fitness center and a restaurant, the Lexington Brass Bar & Grill.
The 1,311-room Grand Hyatt New York
will complete an extensive $130 million renovation by year's end. Included in the project are upgrades to guest rooms and public spaces, as well as renovations to the hotel's 50 meeting rooms, including the 18,000-square-foot Empire Ballroom.
The 214-room Setai Fifth Avenue,
a luxury property managed by Capella Hotels, debuted last November. The property has two meeting rooms -- the 2,400-square-foot Salon and a 405-square-foot boardroom. Also featured are the 11,500-square-foot Auriga Spa and a 24-hour fitness room.
The 411-room Element New York Times Square West
opened last November. The property has two meeting rooms, a rooftop terrace and a fitness center.
The 270-room Mondrian SoHo debuted last February.
Part of Morgans Hotel Group, the property has 2,500 square feet of event space; its single meeting room seats up to 84 theater-style.
The 669-room Yotel New York at Times Square West
opened in June. The property has compact "cabin-style" rooms and a cluster of event spaces.
The Chatwal, an 88-room property in Times Square that debuted in August 2010, is now part of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Luxury Collection and has been renamed The Chatwal New York, A Luxury Collection Hotel.
Housed in a historic building designed by noted architect Stanford White, the hotel has two meeting rooms, a spa and The Lambs Club Restaurant.
A $150 million renovation at the Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers
will expand the property's 1,780 guest rooms and grand suites, as well as the Sheraton Club Lounge. The first stage of the project, which was finished in May, covered 1,080 guest rooms, including 32 suites, and the lounge. Work on the remaining rooms will begin in December, to be completed in April 2012.
