Hawaii is a dream destination for meeting and incentive groups for myriad reasons: The islands offer gorgeous beaches, endless activities and festivals, an award-winning convention center, stunning resorts, strong sustainable practices, and a fascinating history.

Among the updates taking place in this meetings hot spot:

Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort's Tapa Tower is undergoing a renovation of its guest rooms, suites and corridors. The project is being done in phases, with some already completed at press time. In light of the upgrades, the 1,021 Tapa Tower will be renamed the Tapa Collection. Overall, the sprawling 2,860-room property has 57 meeting rooms, 20 restaurants and bars, a spa, and five pools.

Espacio the Jewel of Waikiki, a luxury boutique hotel, debuted this year. Each of the property's nine floors offers a single three-bedroom suite with a dedicated butler and Italian-marble bathrooms with dry saunas, to name a few of the amenities. The incentive-caliber hotel's public spaces include a restaurant, a rooftop infinity pool and a spa.

• The 288-room Halepuna Waikiki by Halekulani, a boutique sister hotel to the neighboring Halekulani resort, opened in October. The property, the former Waikiki Parc Hotel, underwent a $60 million transformation and now offers an eighth-floor pool deck and bar, a fitness center, a hospitality lounge, and a restaurant. The new lobby features custom light fixtures, vaulted ceilings and artwork from a partnership with the Honolulu Museum of Art.
