Ten new hotels are set to open in the Bay Area this year, adding nearly 2,000 guest rooms to the thriving market -- a welcome addition during citywide events. The 196-room Virgin Hotels San Francisco, expected to open this summer near Yerba Buena Gardens, promises a rooftop bar (pictured).
EAST & SOUTH BAY
• The 175-room Hyatt Place Emeryville/San Francisco opened last month as the flagship hotel in the Bay Street Retail Center. The development also has 65 stores, 10 restaurants and a movie theater.
• Kimpton will open its first San Jose property in 2021 as part of the burgeoning Museum Place development. The 173-room boutique hotel will sit alongside the Tech Museum of Innovation.

The 393-room Stanford Court, at the summit of San Francisco's Nob Hill, is the first hotel to partner with Vizzit, a free mobile app for iOS and Android that offers interactive self-guided tours of the neighborhood.
The 159-room Hotel VIA
will open this spring in the South Beach neighborhood, across from AT&T Park, and is currently taking reservations for July 1 and onward. The chic, eclectic boutique hotel promises that no two guest rooms on each floor will be alike. Also in the plans are a 3,000-square-foot rooftop lounge with indoor and outdoor event space, a breakfast café, a meeting room and a fitness center.
To commemorate its 30th anniversary, the landmark Hotel Nikko San Francisco
reopened in March following a three-month, $60 million renovation. The Union Square-area hotel refreshed 405 of its 533 guest rooms and upgraded the lobby and public areas, meeting spaces, and overall infrastructure and technology. The 6,652-square-foot ballroom on the third floor has been completely revamped, while the 20 meeting rooms on the 25th floor sport A/V upgrades and offer views of the Bay. The North and South Halls will be closed from April until September 2017, while the West Hall remains open but is fully booked. a 550-acre working ranch and one of the largest U.S. producers of organic olive oil, has opened six indoor and outdoor venues on its Petaluma property for corporate events. The ranch has put together breakout activities, too, such as yoga, cooking classes, and olive oil and wine tastings.
