 In Cambridge, Mass., the 176-room Sheraton Commander Hotel has completed a multimillion-dollar renovation of its guest rooms and lobby. The hotel has 5,000 square feet of meeting space.

 The 392-room Hunt Valley Inn, A Wyndham Grand Hotel in Hunt Valley, Md., has finished a $15 million redesign of all interior spaces to effect an upscale countryside vibe. The inn has 30,000 square feet of flexible meeting, including two ballrooms and a new events lawn.

 The Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach in Hawaii has completed a $100 million upgrade of its 1,230 guest rooms, which now feature new furnishings, 55-inch TVs, additional outlet pods, dimmer-equipped light fixtures and more.

• The Sheraton JFK Airport Hotel in Jamaica (Queens), N.Y., has completed a revamp of its 150 guest rooms, outfitting them with all-new appointments, as well as the lobby and Rosemary's Restaurant and Lounge. The hotel's three meeting rooms include the 1,900-square-foot Kennedy Ballroom, which can accommodate up to 100 guests for a reception.

• The 641-room InterContinental Miami has finished an upgrade of its more than 100,000 square feet of meeting space. A follow-up to a $35 million renovation completed in 2013, the current project gave all 35 meeting rooms new furnishings and fixtures. Still to come is a redesign and renovation of the pool deck and outdoor reception area, scheduled to begin late this year.

• In the Cayman Islands, the Grand Cayman Marriott has unveiled the fruits of a $15 million revamp to align the resort's offerings with what it calls the Beach House Experience, defined here as a home-away-from-home environment. As such, the property renovated its foyer, lobby, two restaurants, ballroom, meeting rooms, fitness center, and all 295 guest rooms and suites.  The hotel features more than 6,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space, including the 4,240-square-foot Orchic Ballroom, which can host up to 650 people for a reception or 384 for a banquet.

D.C.-area digs. The 184-room DoubleTree by Hilton Largo-Washington DC has opened in Largo, Md., a short drive from the nation's capital. The hotel offers the XC Bar + Bistro (pictured), a terrace with fire pit, a heated indoor pool and complimentary Wi-Fi. Meeting space totals 3,700 square feet, able to host up to 200 people.

More Debuts
 The 361-room Hotel Zephyr opened last month on San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf. Guest rooms, many of which offer stunning views of the bay or city skyline, feature technology that enables guests to stream games and other media from their laptops or handheld mobile devices directly to the rooms' smart TVs. Indoor and outdoor meeting space totals 11,600 square feet, including a 9,999-square-foot  outdoor lounge called The Yard.
 The 228-room JW Marriott Hotel Zhejiang Anji has opened in China's Yangtze River Delta, a short drive from Shanghai. The hotel has two restaurants, the fine-dining Man Ho and the all-day JW Kitchen, and a total of 9,505 square feet of event space, including a 6,168-square-foot ballroom that can accommodate up to 380 people for a banquet.

 Newly opened is the 314-room Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen Resort on Mexico's Riviera Maya along the Caribbean Sea. The hotel was designed by acclaimed Mexican architect Sordo Madaleno and New York-based Rockwell Group and makes maximum use of natural elements, artwork, textures and light; for example, all guest rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows, many overlooking the beach. An on-site spa and fully equipped fitness center keep guests relaxed, while planners can access more than 15,000 square feet of flexible function space across 18 meeting rooms, 12 with natural light. A short walk away is famed La Quinta Avenida for shopping and dining.

• The Hyatt Centric South Beach Miami has opened with 105 guest rooms, the Deck Sixteen restaurant and bar, complimentary Wi-Fi throughout and 700 square feet of meeting space.

• The 123-room Hilton San Luis Potosi has opened in North Central Mexico, 15 miles from Ponciano Arriaga International Airport. The upscale, full-service property sports a hacienda-style design and includes 9,000 square feet of flexible indoor meeting space that can accommodate up to 850 people, including a nearly 7,000-square-foot ballroom, plus outdoor function space that can host up to 1,000 guests.   

• In Macau, the 1,015-room JW Marriott, Asia's largest in the brand, has opened in the mammoth Galaxy Macau complex. The hotel offers more than 30,000 square feet of function space, several dining options, a pool and a fitness center.

• Also a part of Galaxy Macau is the newly opened Ritz-Carlton, Macau, where guests enter a 51st-floor lobby with panoramic views of the city. The hotel has 254 suites, a fitness center, an outdoor pool, an 8,000-square-foot pillarless ballroom and two additional meeting spaces. Lai Heen, a high-end Cantonese restaurant, features five private dining rooms for groups.

• The 346-room Hilton Yuxi Fuxian Lake has opened in Yunnan Province in Southwest China, Hilton Hotels & Resorts' first entry in the area. The property has been designed in a "relaxed Mediterranean style," with private balconies, landscaped gardens and bamboo forests. Six on-site restaurants include Asiana, offering dishes influenced by ethnic Chinese minorities alongside other Asian and Western flavors, and Yuxi, where Cantonese cuisine is the specialty. The hotel also has 20,450 square feet of flexible meeting and banquet space, including a pillar-less grand ballroom that can host up to 1,200 attendees.
