• A new peak. Surrounded by the Sierra Nevada Mountains in Reno, the 157-room Whitney Peak Hotel opens this month with chef Mark Estee's locally sourced Heritage Restaurant; the Cargo live music venue; BaseCamp, with a 7,000-square-foot indoor climbing bouldering park; and more than 7,000 square feet of meeting space.

The Courtyard Los Angeles L.A. Live and Residence Inn Los Angeles L.A. Live have opened across the street from the Staples Center and a short walk to the Los Angeles Convention Center. The Courtyard has 174 rooms and the Residence Inn offers 219 suites. The properties share five meeting rooms, the largest of which holds up to 400 people.

In Mexico, the new all-inclusive Hard Rock Riviera Maya has opened with a 660-room "family section" and 606 rooms for adults. The resort also includes the Rock Spa with 75 treatment rooms; dining choices such as Brazilian fare at Ipanema, Asian fusion at Zen and steak at Toro; six pools, all with swim-up bars; and 88,915 square feet of meeting space.

The 115-room Home2Suites by Hilton New York Long Island City/Manhattan View, NY opens this month just over the East River from Manhattan. Features include a 24-hour pantry market, a complimentary breakfast area, a fitness room and an 880-square-foot meeting room that can accommodate up to 50 people theater-style and up to 25 for a conference.

In Florida, the 130-room Le Méredien Tampa opens this month in a 100-year-old former federal courthouse. The hotel offers a 24-hour fitness center, the Bizou Brasserie serving signature French comfort food, an outdoor pool, complimentary wireless high-speed Internet access throughout and four meeting spaces, including the 2,201-square-foot Courtroom Ballroom. The property is a short walk from the Tampa Convention Center.
