• West Coast luxe. May 15 will mark the grand opening of the 244-room Ritz-Carlton Rancho Mirage (Calif.), above. The property has three swimming pools, a spa with 15 treatment rooms, and the State Fare restaurant, serving California cuisine. Indoor meeting space totals 16,000 square feet, with another 15,000 square feet outside.

• The Brice, a Kimpton boutique hotel in Savannah, Ga., is poised to welcome guests this month with lots of Southern charm, including standard guest room features such as complimentary Wi-Fi, yoga mats, C.O. Bigelow bath amenities and more. The 145-room property also features about 6,000 square feet of meeting space, an outdoor pool and a 24-hour fitness center.

• In Pennsylvania, the 135-room Four Points by Sheraton Scranton is another notable May debut. Guest rooms feature 42-inch LCD flat-screen TVs and complimentary wireless high-speed Internet access, while five function spaces (the largest spanning 5,390 square feet) can host up to 250 people. For a great escape, the Harry Houdini Museum is nearby, and a half-hour drive away lies all the gaming action at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs.

 The 484-room Westin Cleveland Downtown opens this month with a 3,000-square-foot Westin Workout Fitness Studio, guest-room views of Lake Erie and the city's skyline, and some 20,000 square feet of space divided among 20 meeting rooms. (Tip: The hotel is just a short walk from the must-see Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.)

 Also debuting this month is the 293-room Homewood Suites by Hilton Midtown Times Square South, on West 37th Street between Eighth and Ninth avenues in Manhattan. The 20-story property offers easy access to everywhere in the Big Apple, plus two meeting rooms spanning 463 and 380 square feet, respectively.

• Late last month marked the opening of the 143-room Aloft Calgary University in Alberta, so named for the nearby educational institution. The property sports trademark Aloft touches such as the W XYZ bar, 24/7 pantry, and free hotel-wide wired and wireless Internet. For meetings, the property offers 4,800 square feet divided among four rooms.

• At press time, the 290-room Radisson Blu Plaza Bangkok was due to open in Thailand with a variety of meeting spaces, including a 4,520-square-foot ballroom. For dining, the hotel offers Attico, featuring "rustic Italian" fare, and the China Table dim sum bar. Nearby are shopping hot spots Terminal 21 and The Emporium.

• The 271-room Four Points by Sheraton Hefei, Shushan, in China, opened last month with 17,600 square feet of meeting space, two restaurants - The (yes, just "The") and China Spice - plus an indoor pool, a fitness center and more. The hotel is in Shushan's Hefei New Municipal and Cultural District, surrounded by office buildings, shopping malls, restaurants, and sports and entertainment options.

• Also in China, the Sheraton Beijing West Mountain Resort was set to open on May 5 with 381 guest rooms and 42,086 square feet of meeting space divided among 13 rooms. Nearby are Tianamen Square and the Forbidden City, plus Yangtai Mountain Nature Park and Eagle Peak National Forest.
