THE ART OF COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Founded in 1977 on Pittsburgh's North Side, the Mattress Factory is a delightfully cool and funky museum featuring wildly creative exhibits and works like "Repetitive Vision" (pictured) by Yayoi Kusama. Created by artists to support artists in residence, the venue also is a force for good in its neighborhood, helping to renovate abandoned buildings and offering workshops and after-school programs for local children.

EAT THE FISH, SAVOR THE VIEW
High atop Mt. Washington, the Monterey Bay Fish Grotto serves sustainable seafood flown in daily from Monterey Bay (Calif.) and paired with seasonal local ingredients. Try the Honey Lime Salmon made with teriyaki marinade and honey-lime butter sauce. Just as enjoyable are the 360-degree views of the 'Burgh skyline.

THIRSTY?
Take a tour of the Distillery Tasting Room and Bottle Shop at Wigle Whiskey in the Strip District. While sipping some award-winning organic Pennsylvania craft spirits, learn about Pittsburgh's Whiskey Rebellion, local Prohibition lore and more.

TWO-WHEELING
The Segway Pittsburgh Experience Center offers a fun way to explore the city. Choose among five guided excursions, including Downtown, Sunset on the Ohio River, and the Golden Triangle.
