• Two Prague eateries were awarded Michelin stars this year. The recipients of the single stars are The Alcron, chef Roman Paulus' seafood restaurant at the 206-room Radisson Blu Alcron Hotel Prague, and chef Oldrich Sahajdák's La Degustation Boheme Bourgoise, lauded for specialties such as oyster mushrooms with horseradish sauce. • It's no problem killing extra time at Prague Airport. The facility has a movie theater, a game room and rotating exhibitions. Visitors also can take a unique behind-the-scenes tour of the facility.

The Czech capital prides itself on showcasing its storied, elegant past while still wowing delegates with hip, über-modern venues and offerings.

The dichotomy of old and new is evident in the city's main  meeting venues, including the Prague Congress Center, Inch­eba Expo Praha, Prague Airport Conference Hall and Zofin Palace, all helping to elevate Prague to 14th place on the International Congress & Convention Association's list of top cities for hosting international association events in 2011, up from 19th place in 2010.

Hotel news The 161-room Hotel Four Seasons Prague is completing a five-year renovation touching upon the property's guest rooms, public spaces and 6,500 square feet of meeting space while adding a new eatery, the CottoCrudo Restaurant, Bar and Lounge.

This past April, the 372-room InterContinental Prague unveiled its new Primátor restaurant/function room. The hotel now offers a total of 14 meeting rooms, plus a health club and a spa.

The 328-room Marriott Hotel Prague will debut its new restaurant and lobby lounge, the Midtown Grill, in September. The hotel has 14,000 square feet of meeting space.

The new 63-room boutique Fusion Hotel Prague opened in May in the city center with offerings such as a rotating bar, a gastropub and free Wi-Fi throughout the premises.

Last year, the 436-room Moevenpick Hotel Prague became the first property in the city to achieve Green Globe certification. The hotel has 14 meeting rooms.

Meeting venue update
The city's new contemporary art museum/gallery, the DOX Center, offers a unique industrial setting for events, meetings and education sessions. Among the spaces available in this expansive facility are an auditorium that seats 300 people, a small lecture hall, two galleries, a café with a terrace, and the main hall, which offers 6,000 square feet of event space for receptions.

At the Prague TV Tower, the city's iconic space-needle structure that debuted in 1992, a new mixed-use complex is slated to open by the end of the year, complete with its own conference center. At press time, details on the amount of planned meeting space were not available. The tower currently has a small meeting room that seats 12, plus a larger room for gatherings of up to 160 people.
