This charming country has found a graceful way to meld its traditional attractions (music, golf, castles), with offerings that appeal to modern sensibilities. Locavore cuisine and Burren hikes can be arranged by Wallace Travel Group, and in-home meals with locals are coordinated by Secret Ireland Escapes. In short, Ireland delivers endless ways to delight a wide range of visitors.

Also offering a mix of old and new are two properties in the West: the 98-room Dromoland Castle, which recently completed a refurbishment, and the 90-room Trump  International Golf Links & Hotel Resort, Doonbeg (formerly the Lodge at Doonbeg), which is adding new event facilities set to open in 2017.
