Mystic MarriottTo say that the 285-room Mystic Marriott stands at the bottom of the I-95 off-ramp in Groton, Conn., doesn’t accurately conjure the tranquil, secluded atmosphere at the AAA Four Diamond hotel, which overlooks the Pohegnut Reservoir. However, it does speak to its convenience -- five minutes to the heart of Mystic, the quintessential New England seaside village; 20 minutes to Connecticut’s casino resorts; roughly 110 miles from both Boston and New York. Aside from 20,000 square feet of meeting space, highlights of the five-year-old Marriott include a Red Door Spa, soon to be refurbished, and the Octagon Restaurant, an upscale steakhouse with the feel of a cool urban lounge.
