Since its opening in 1899, the Dolder Grand in this major Swiss city has been a European icon, noted as much for its discreet Old World service as for its opulent fin de siècle décor.

Following a head-to-toe renovation and expansion, the 173-room property reopened in 2008. The new Dolder offers an intriguing mix of modern design, technological upgrades (even the guest room shades open and close with a touch of a switch) and serene bliss, thanks to a state-of-the-art spa. Hints of the hotel's original splendor remain in some public areas, including the lobby.

The resort has two large event spaces, the Gallery and the Ballroom, plus seven meeting rooms. Also on-site: a nine-hole golf course and a skating rink.
