The Detroit Tigers open their home season at Comerica Park this week with a spate of day games, taking on the New York Yankees on April 5-7, and the Toronto Blue Jays April 9-11. The stadium has more than just seats: The Fly Ball Ferris wheel and a carousel delight riders, and the Tigers Walk of Fame encircles the walkway of the lower level.

Vincent Van Gogh's Bedroom in Arles (pictured below) is on loan from the Musée d'Orsay in Paris and hanging along with three pieces by the famed Dutch post-impressionist owned by the Detroit Insti­tute of Art. Also on display is the exhibit, "Motor City Muse: Detroit Pho­tographs Then and Now." And don't miss the amazing and controversial "Detroit Indus­try" murals by Diego Rivera.

Tap at MGM DetroitFor beer nuts. TAP, the new sports bar at the MGM Grand, has more than 50 beers on draught or in bottle. Brands include local favorites Bell's Two-Hearted Ale, Dark Horse IPA, Detroit Sanders Chocolate Stout, New Holland Mad Hatter and Short's Huma-Lupa-Licious. Classic pub fare is served, too.

Sinatra ate here. The number-one restaurant in the city, according to TripAdvisor, is Giovanni's Ristorante, serving Italian with Old World flair.
