The vibrant hues of this sweet-and-spicy margarita -- based on the signature "passionate margarita" at the Condado Vanderbilt hotel in San Juan, Puerto Rico -- evoke a Caribbean sunset.

2 oz silver tequila
1 oz triple sec
1 oz passionfruit puree
1 oz lime juice
1 oz simple syrup

Salt, sugar, Thai chili and black pepper, mixed for rimming glass

Wet rim of margarita glass and dip in spice mixture. Pour remaining ingredients into a shaker with ice and shake to blend, then strain into glass.
