train green meetingsAt the 2010 IMEX show in Frankfurt, organizers reduced waste by 30 metric tons over the 2009 show. Some of the ways they cut back:
• They required that polypropylene carpets be used in the exhibit hall, as polypropylene is recyclable.
• They ordered recycled-paper badges coated with a compostable corn-based polymer from their supplier, RefTech (reftech.co.uk).
For the 2011 show, IMEX is offering carbon-free train travel through German rail company Deutsche Bahn, which costs just a few extra Euros per ticket than traditional tickets. (In the U.S., Amtrak offers carbon offsets.)
