New software, developed with input from meeting professionals, lets planners send news, schedules and presentations to attendees' smartphones. It works both ways, too: Through their phones, attendees can sign up for an event, provide feedback, ask questions and participate in contests. As with most custom-designed software, it's not cheap ($5,000 to $40,000 depending on the amount of customization), but it could make life easier for everyone involved. (415) 255-5727;
