Weather
The weather in Thailand is mostly hot and humid, although the northern highlands are generally 10 F/5 C cooler. The best time to visit is November-February, when the days are milder and the nights are cooler. March and April are especially hot, with average high temperatures in the mid-90s F/32-35 C. While you might want to avoid the monsoon season, mid-May to October, in places such as Bangkok where it's particularly humid and rainy, in Chiang Mai the rains don't come every day nor with such volume, and rarely last all day. In fact, the temperatures benefit from the cooling effect and the tourist traffic from Bangkok is greatly reduced. Downpours are intermittent rather than constant, so they generally do not cause major problems.
