American Airlines intends to beef up its presence in Latin America and the Caribbean later this year in the form of eight new routes. Pending regulatory approvals, the carrier will offer new flights to Mexico City and Mazatlan, Mexico, both from Los Angeles; to Quito, Ecuador, from Dallas/Fort Worth; to CuraƧao International Airport from Charlotte, N.C.; to Montego Bay, Jamaica, from Los Angeles; to Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, from Charlotte; and to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, from both Dallas/Fort Worth and Chicago O'Hare.

The carrier also plans to reinstate service between New York JFK and Caracas, Venezuela, beginning Dec. 17. Those flights are now available to book.

With the launch of the new routes, American will operate more than 1,750 weekly flights throughout the region.
