The virtual-assistant app Mezi, a shopping and commerce app that recently turned its focus to travel, has officially entered the corporate travel market with its new Mezi for Business platform. 
 
The two-year-old company uses artificial intelligence to hone a traveler's profile as he or she uses the app, basing itinerary recommendations on the user's past behavior. Travelers interact with a chatbot to book travel; human agents assist with more complex itinerary requests. Mezi for Business applies that same artificial intelligence technology to the corporate travel market, complete with a travel dashboard as well as the mobile app assistant for both Apple iOS or Google Android devices.
 
"Cumbersome and fragmented software solutions are weighing down the corporate travel industry, where service delivery is overly complex and customer satisfaction is disappointingly low," said Mezi co-founder and CEO Swapnil Shinde. As a consumer app, Mezi has been used by more than 100,000 travelers and processed more than 50 million words across 500,000 conversations, according to the company. While the corporate platform still is in its infancy, customers already include American Express, celebrity concierge service Bluefish and travel management companies such as Adelman Travel, Casto Travel and W Travel. According to Mezi, several other Fortune 500 companies and airlines will be piloting the technology this year.
 
The Mezi chatbot can automate more than 60 percent of the conversations initiated by travelers, according to the company. Chatbots are customized for each travel segment they represent, including flights, hotels and restaurant reservations. Mezi has partnerships in place with Sabre, Expedia, Priceline, TripAdvisor, OpenTable and others to provide inventory and options.
 
Mezi for Business clients can white-label Mezi's technology as well, customizing it to more closely resemble their other tools and platforms.
