Carlson Wagonlit Travel acquired mobile travel technology developer WorldMate, which has been making itinerary and mobile-services applications for 12 years. The acquisition will further strengthen the travel management company's mobile suite. Corporate customers will be able to use the technology to aggregate travel information from multiple sources, covering services such as airport parking, restaurant bookings, hotel reservations, ground transportation and airline amenities — all of which travelers may book through the WorldMate app. "Working with the expert in mobile technology puts us in control of our own 'mobile destiny,'" noted CWT president and CEO Douglas Anderson. WorldMate will operate as a subsidiary of CWT and aid in the enhancement of CWT's existing mobile tools as well.
