A new marketing effort was launched yesterday to attract meetings business to Delray Beach in South Florida. The Meet in Delray website (meetindelray.com) details hotels and meeting facilities, points of interest, news and links targeted to meeting professionals. "Meetings and conference locations are typically chosen based on facilities, amenities and climate…and Delray has them all," said Bob Lipp, a business marketing executive who created the program with former Delray Mayor Jeff Perlman. Working closely with personnel at area facilities, Perlman, Lipp and their team will assist planners in designing packages tailored to individual business needs and interests. "We'll take care of the details," said Lipp, "and the Delray climate and lifestyle will take care of everything else." Among oceanfront meeting hotels are the 268-room Delray Beach Marriott and the 162-room Seagate Hotel and Spa. The area's newest property is the Hyatt Place Delray Beach/Pineapple Grove, in the downtown arts district, offering 134 guest rooms. Delray Beach is midway between the international airports in Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach.
