Jeff Vasser, who led the Atlantic City Convention & Visitors Authority for 11 years, is leaving the organization Oct. 18 to become general director/CEO of the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association, a federation of 35 national hotel associations throughout the Caribbean. During his tenure at the ACCVA, Vasser oversaw the day-to-day operation of the authority's management/administration, convention sales, marketing, media relations, tourism divisions and venues, Boardwalk Hall and the 500,000-square-foot Atlantic City Convention Center. In 2011, the ACCVA merged with the city's Casino Reinvestment Development Authority; the latter organization's role expanded to oversee all tourism to the destination. At press time, the CRDA, which is helmed by executive director John Palmieri, had not returned M&C's call about the whether the soon-to-be-vacant ACCVA president position would be filled.
