Visit London, the Seoul Tourism Organization and Business Events Sydney announced last week the formation of the Future Convention Cities Initiative to help further develop their meetings industries. The partners also aim to maximize the economic contribution of business events to their destinations by encouraging local investment and creating supporting jobs. Fast Future Research is the facilitator and research partner of the new group. “We expect intense global competition over the next five to 10 years to host the conventions for the leading growth industries,” said Sally Chatterjee, CEO of Visit London. “The Initiative will help shape our future thinking about how destinations must evolve to serve tomorrow’s customers and how we can maximize the long-term economic contribution of the events sector.”
