A new nonprofit geared to luring meetings to Atlantic City is moving closer to operating independently from the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority, according to press reports. The new entity, Meet AC, is an offshoot of the CRDA, which oversees all tourism in the city. Hospitality leaders hope the move will allow the city to compete more effectively with other cities for convention business. The five-member board met for the first time last month to approve a meeting schedule and bylaws; the organization currently is seeking a CEO and sales team.
