German-born Christoph Tessmar has succeeded Airy Garrigosa as the director of the Barcelona (Spain) Convention Bureau, the Barcelona Tourism Office announced. Garrigosa stepped down after 29 years of management with the tourism office. Tessmar's expertise is in the organization of both domestic and international conferences for large companies. He served as congress manager for Sanofi-Aventis Spain since 1999. According to the International Congress & Convention Association, Barcelona has held the number-two ranking for the number of international conferences hosted for the past three years.
