New York City welcomed a record 52 million visitors in 2012, representing a 2.1 percent increase over 2011 numbers. Visitors to the city generated an estimated $55.3 billion in economic impact to the city's economy, with direct spending reaching $36.9 billion. On the meetings side, 5.2 million delegates visited the Big Apple last year, an increase of 2 percent over 2011 figures, and total delegate spending was $5 billion, also up 2 percent over 2011.
