The San Diego Convention & Visitors Bureau (ConVis) has merged with the San Diego East Visitors Bureau in order to pool resources and boost tourism for the region. ConVis will retain the staff of the East Visitors Bureau and will manage its $300,000 budget. The former head of the East Bureau, Eric Lund, has been named vice president of membership and community relations for ConVis. In a further effort to promote San Diego tourism, the bureau has launched an initiative to attract more meetings and conventions. The campaign's main component is the "Have It All Meetings" promotion, which offers groups a 10.5 percent discount on hotel rooms and F&B for business booked by year's end and held by March 31, 2011.
