The Saudi Arabian government has launched the Saudi Exhibition and Convention Bureau. According to Tariq Al-Essa, the SECB's executive manager, the organization was launched because "the convention and exhibition sector will offer strong support to the country's ambitious plans to grow and diversify the economy." Prior to the launch, the government conducted several studies to analyze the MICE sector within the country. The most recent study, published earlier this year, revealed that more than 3.2 million visitors, who had an economic impact of $2.3 billion, attend events in Saudi Arabia annually.
