The Singapore Tourism Board announced today that Rachel Loh will take over as regional director, Americas, replacing current director Kershing Goh, effective Oct. 1. In her new role, Loh will oversee STB's business development, marketing and tourism promotion throughout the Americas, working to enhance the city-state's allure as a global tourism destination.
Goh will move into the role of senior vice president of strategic partnerships and alliances, overseeing enhancements of STB's technology as well as strengthening strategic partnerships with technology providers and lifestyle brands.

"After having been at the forefront of marketing Singapore in the U.S. for the past five years, I'm excited to be given the opportunity to stretch horizontally to explore new strategic alliances for STB," said Goh. "With rapid changes and tech-driven disruption happening across all sectors, it will be critical for STB to integrate and future-proof our work to bring about sustainable, impactful results for Singapore tourism."

Loh currently serves as strategic planning and incentive policy director, where she provided planning and policy support and worked to encourage the private sector's investment in tourism growth. She also oversaw the division that conducts economic analysis, consumer insights and market trends for the tourism sector.

"I'm thrilled to be embarking on a regional-office role in the U.S., as it continues to be a leader in leisure and BTMICE travel trends and developments," said Loh. "After years of stellar tourism performance, I look forward to continuing growth in the Americas market."

Singapore has enjoyed strong tourism from the U.S., with a 11.5 percent growth in U.S. visitors in the year ending July 2019 compared to the prior year. The organization points to the success of the film Crazy Rich Asians as helping drive interest in the destination and the launch of a number of nonstop flights from San Francisco, Los Angeles, Newark and Seattle with helping ease transportation. Singapore's wealth of MICE offerings have made it a top choice for business event planners, and it was named the top 2019 meetings destination in Asia by Cvent. In addition, the city-state was named "Best MICE Destination" at last month's M&C Asia Stella Awards, with STB's Singapore Exhibition & Convention Bureau earning "Best Convention & Visitors Bureau."
