"Waiting on others to make decisions" is the top planner gripe, according to a Destination Marketing Association International survey. Over several weeks, DMAI's empowerment team ran a March "Meeting Planning Madness" tournament that gave planners the opportunity to decide, in four rounds of voting, what drives them mad about their jobs. More than 400 planners participated in the survey. "Waiting on others to make decisions" garnered 63 percent of the votes in the final round, vs. the number-two gripe, "Stakeholders who think they're planners."
