Visit Spokane in Washington State, the region's convention and visitors bureau, has announced that president and CEO Cheryl Y. Kilday has resigned. She has been the head of Visit Spokane for eight years, and will now become CEO of South Carolina's North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce CVB.
"It was a tough decision to leave such an amazing place, yet this great opportunity is even more attractive considering my husband's job is on the East Coast. We couldn't pass it up," said Kilday. "I've enjoyed my time serving at the helm of Visit Spokane and I've been part of some exciting projects during my tenure. The board and community support has been tremendous and working with such an incredible team has been truly inspiring."
SearchWide Global will conduct a national search for the CVB's new president and CEO; the process is expected to take 10 to 12 weeks. TJ Hake, Visit Spokane's vice president of strategic development and operations, will take over as interim head after Kilday leaves on Oct. 12.
"During this transition period, it is our priority to find the best individual to lead, while still maintaining a stable and effective organization," said Matt Jensen, corporate director of sales and marketing for Davenport Hotels, and president of the board for Visit Spokane. "We cannot thank Cheryl enough for the dedication, passion and enthusiasm she has given Visit Spokane over the past eight years."
