VisitPittsburgh has named Jerad Bachar, CDME, the organization's new executive vice president. Bachar, who worked as a national sales director for VisitPittsburgh from 2004 to 2008, was most recently executive director of the Economic Development Board for the country of Bahrain. He is filling a post that has been open since September, when Jason Fulvi left Pittsburgh to become president and CEO of Visit KC in Kansas City, Mo.
Part of Bachar's role in Bahrain was to develop branding, structure and strategy for the country's tourism-promotion program. Prior to that, he was the director of business tourism for Visti Dubai's Department of Tourism & Commerce Marketing. Among his accomplishments there were the creation of an events division and a public/private-sector alliance for citywide events.

Bachar's "expertise in sales, economic planning, organizational structure and stakeholder networks will prove to be highly valuable for VisitPittsburgh," reads a letter from CEO Craig Davis, announcing the hire. "His international sales experience will be extremely beneficial as the organization continues to grow and expand its global reach."

Bachar has served on the boards of BestCities Global Alliance and Destinations International [https://destinationsinternational.org/], and has collaborated on initiatives with a variety of industry associations. His new executive role in Pittsburgh will have him overseeing convention sales, destination services, partnership development, research, and SportsPittsburgh, which promotes the destination's sports history, culture and facilities.

Bachar will step into the new position on Jan. 14, 2019.
