In this 2016 edition of our annual Global Planner, M&C looks in-depth at meetings, conventions, trade shows, incentive programs and events held outside the United States. Our survey of 261 planners (162 corporate, 99 association) reveals where groups will meet this year and next. We also share insights into our respondents' site-selection criteria, priorities, concerns, budgets and more.

Following are among key findings this year.

Europe will remain the top spot for international meetings in 2016 and 2017.

For incentive programs, the Caribbean/Bermuda is the most popular destination for this year and next.

The top concerns for both corporate and association planners are, not surprisingly, terrorism and local health threats affecting international meeting destinations.

When in comes to class of hotel used for their last international meeting, 52% of corporate planners went for upscale; 25% used a luxury property; 11% picked midscale, and 1% chose economy.
