AIBTM and IMEX America Expect to Host 2,000 Buyers for Inaugural Shows
Two new hosted-buyer trade shows launching in the U.S. next year both upped their size projections. AIBTM, the Americas Meetings & Events Exhibitions, to be held June 21-23, 2011, in Baltimore, originally intended to draw 500 hosted buyers, will now host 2,000, project manager Steve Knight told M&C on Monday. In addition, show management is negotiating with the Baltimore Convention Center to expand the contracted space for the event. A total of 3,000 buyers are expected to attend (2,000 hosted and another 1,000 paid registrants), along with 350 exhibiting companies, for a possible total attendance of about 5,000, Knight estimated. Similarly, IMEX America, slated for Oct. 11-13, 2011, in Las Vegas, revised its projections in May to 2,000 hosted buyers, up from an original plan to host 1,500, said Ray Bloom, chairman of the IMEX Group.
