As part of our 50th anniversary celebration, we asked industry industry insiders what M&C has meant to them over the years. Here's what they told us:

"M&C has always been my go-to publication, both print and digital, for in-depth news about the industry. It has great destination information, of course, but I've always looked to M&C for the latest on what is truly happening in the industry. As an old journalism major and news guy, I really appreciate M&C's focus. I also think M&C has been instrumental in helping us communicate the importance of the profession to businesses and organizations. M&C has taught us over the yearswhat it takes to be a pro."

-- Jeff Rasco, founder and CEO, Attendee Management; former director of conference services, MD Anderson Cancer Center

"The magazine was a respected voice and chronicler of all things relevant in the meeting industry in my formative years in the business. We both 'started' around the same time. M&C's founding editor Mel Hosansky was one of the first thought leaders of our industry. I so admired him that it was only natural that I would turn first to his 'book.' And the habit continued after he left."

-- Rod Abraham, managing director, Rod Abraham Group

"M&C has brought a pragmatic approach, providing an overview of the industry, as well as current, relevant and responsive well-written articles. In recent years the magazine has taken it beyond the pages to provide targeted events for professionals in the industry, whether it be a webcast or a face-to-face opportunity to sit across the table with your hospitality industry partner."

-- Jonathan T. Howe, Esq., founding partner, Howe & Hutton; contributing editor, M&C

"M&C is the publication that keeps our CVB team up to date on groups and individuals. It gives us insight into the mechanics of destination selection and gives us an advantage in predicting the needs of so many meeting groups."

-- Nicki Grossman, recently retired president, Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention and Visitors Bureau

"Over the past 50 years, Meetings & Conventions has encouraged collaboration between industry professionals to help them flourish in their careers. The publication is a great showcase of best practices and innovative ideas to help the industry evolve. The network of dedicated colleagues created by the team at M&C is a valuable resource for not only our destination, but the meetings industry as a whole."

-- Rossi Ralenkotter, president and CEO, Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority

"I have always had a warm place in my heart for M&C, because their editors had the early vision to embrace the technology wave that was initiated in the early '90s."
-- Rodman Marymor, founder, Cardinal Communications, the Meetings Industry Mall and the MIMList listserv, now M&C's MIForum

"M&C has been an extremely important resource for the many years that I have been in the industry. As a former hotel sales and marketing executive, a former CVB president and meetings/exhibitions industry association executive, the information that I have received and the many industry relationships that I have built over the years have been supported by M&C and its great staff."

-- David DuBois, CMP, CAE, CTA, FASAE, president and CEO, International Association of Exhibitions and Events

"Over the 40+ years of being in the hospitality/meetings industry, I have always considered M&C among a very small number of 'must-read' publications. It has educated, informed, and updated our profession over the generations and, hopefully, our successors and offspring will continue to use it as a resource well into their careers."

-- Dave Scypinski, senior vice president, ConferenceDirect

"M&C has always been a leader in the meetings industry, providing in-depth reporting on topical subjects. It's been a valuable resource for me for my entire career."

-- Kathleen M. Ratcliffe, president, St. Louis Convention & Visitors Commission

"M&C has been a positive part of my career in the industry for 35 years with a relationship that goes as far back as Mel Hosansky, M&C's founding editor, who left us far too soon."

-- George Aguell, president and CEO, Visit Orlando
