The 1,400-room Revel Casino Hotel in Atlantic City closed yesterday, just two years after its debut. On Sunday, the 1,300-room Showboat Atlantic City also shut down following a 27-year run; Showboat's owner, Caesars Entertainment, cited increased regional competition and the need to protect business at its other Atlantic City properties. The closures leave Atlantic City with nine casinos, down from 12 just a year ago.
