Hard Rock International has unveiled a plan to open a $1 billion  casino at the Meadowlands, according to press reports. The 650,000-square-foot property “will compete with anything in the world,” Hard Rock Chairman Jim Allen said at a press conference Wednesday. The proposed facility, which would open next summer, is slated to have 5,000 slot machines, 200 gaming tables, 10 restaurants, a Hard Rock Live showroom, a New Jersey Music Hall of Fame and a music memorabilia museum. Before it can be built, state legislators need to approve a ballot question for state voters allowing casino gambling outside of Atlantic City.
