MGM Resorts International has filed a proposal with the state of Maryland to develop an $800 million casino resort on 20 acres of waterfront property just south of Washington, D.C., in National Harbor in Prince George's County. The development comes after Maryland voters passed a measure back in November 2012 that opened the state for additional casino licenses, allowing MGM to continue its bidding process. If MGM wins the bid, the new casino would open in 2016 with about 200 table games and 4,000 slot machines, in addition to restaurant and entertainment options.
