Construction of a 300-room hotel at Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem (Pa.), could begin within the next several weeks. A Las Vegas Sands Corp. statement specifically addressed -- and denied -- rumors that the company was interested in selling the casino and would delay indefinitely any further development of the site. The state's recent legalization of table gaming is clearly a motivating factor. "We are looking forward to reviewing our table games application with the Gaming Control Board," said Las Vegas Sands chairman and CEO Sheldon Adelson in a statement, "and at the same time we have undertaken efforts which will result in construction on the hotel portion of the development in the very near future."
