HIP (Hospitality Industry Professionals) Network, a community of about 7,500 meeting planners and suppliers, announced it is acquiring the Convene Green sustainability platform from the American Society of Association Executives. ASAE itself purchased the Convene Green Alliance from IMN Solutions, an association, foundation and meeting management company in 2010. CGA was founded in 2008 by leaders of 16 major associations to develop green meetings practices.

"We recognize that event sustainability is still one of the most underserved areas within our industry," said Dan Sherman, founder and CEO of HIP, of the acquisition.

In November, HIP will announce plans for Convene Green products and tools during its innovation conference, "Sessions in the City" in Washington, D.C. The tool will have resources to track, manage and communicate big or small eco-friendly initiatives throughout the lifecycle of an event.

"Over the years, it's become clear that HIP Network is uniquely positioned to drive the event sustainability conversation, and I'm confident that Convene Green will continue to enhance the performance of our association stakeholders," said John H. Graham IV, FASAE, CAE, president and CEO of ASAE.
