The Massachusetts Convention Center Authority and its dining and hospitality partner Levy Restaurants purchased a record 74 percent of food-and-beverage goods and services from Massachusetts businesses in FY2013, providing meals for events at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center and the Hynes Convention center. This represents a 20 percent increase over previous years. Levy spent $3.94 million on wares and services from local vendors, compared with $1.4 million on food from vendors outside the state. "Since we formed our partnership, Levy and the MCCA have always seen food as integral to the character of Boston and the client experience we offer," said James E. Rooney, MCCA executive director, who called the record percent of food purchases "an amazing feat that guarantees our guests receive the best in fresh local cuisine."
