The American Society for Testing and Materials International has published the green meetings standard on meeting venues, the eighth of nine standards it has been developing for four years with the Convention Industry Council's Accepted Practices Exchange. The last piece, on accommodations, passed its final voting process on March 8 and is expected to be published this summer. Now available to the meetings industry are breakdowns in the areas of A/V, communication and marketing materials, destinations, exhibits, F&B, meeting venues, transportation and on-site office. Each of the standards addresses staff management and environmental policy, communications, waste, energy, air quality, water, procurement and community partners. The standards are available for $40 to $46 each through ASTM International. After the ninth standard is complete, all nine will be available as a compilation. ASTM members get one free volume of all nine standards with their membership dues. For more information on the standards, including how to order and a list of the volunteers who contributed to the project, visit http://www.conventionindustry.org/
