The American Hotel & Lodging Association this week beefed up its governmental relations committee with the addition of two new members, who will join the hotel group's increased advocacy efforts on Capitol Hill, both serving as vice presidents of governmental affairs. Maryam Cope, who previously served as the director of government relations for the Information Technology Council, will head AH&LA's managing technology and data security issues. Craig Kalkut will spearhead efforts in several areas, including travel promotion, taxes and terrorism risk insurance.
