Alex Calderwood, cofounder of the eclectic Ace Hotels chain, was found dead in the company's London property on Thursday. He was 47. No details of his passing have been released, and a blog post on the company's website merely states, "Yesterday Alex Calderwood passed away. Alex was our teacher, mentor, guru and most importantly our dear friend. We will miss him." There are seven Ace Hotels, in London; downtown Los Angeles; New York City; Palm Springs, Calif.; Portland, Ore.; Seattle, and Panama City, Panama.
