Hilton will develop two distinct, neighboring properties on 100 acres of beachfront in Cancún, Mexico, both of which will open in 2021. The 150-room Waldorf Astoria Cancún will provide luxury accommodations alongside the 600-room Hilton Cancún, an all-inclusive property set to feature six restaurants on-site.

"With more than half of our Latin America portfolio present in Mexico, we are proud to announce the plans for Waldorf Astoria Cancún and Hilton Cancún as we continue to introduce distinguished properties in the world's most sought-after destinations," said Hilton's Juan Corvinos, vice president of development in Latin America and the Caribbean. "Representing our luxury and upscale brands respectively, Waldorf Astoria Cancún and Hilton Cancún will offer guests a taste of Mexican culture fused with Waldorf Astoria's uncompromising sophistication and Hilton Hotels & Resort's flagship hospitality."

The Waldorf Astoria's guest rooms will each have either waterfront- or mangrove-facing terraces or private balconies, and there will be a spa and fitness facilities on-site, as well as two plunge pools and two upscale restaurants. Locally sourced Yucatecan cuisine also will be available at other food-and-beverage outlets throughout the property.

Its Hilton neighbor will feature a large swimming-pool complex and offer curated adventures in local art, gastronomy and culture. Expansive meeting and event spaces will be available across both hotels, to accommodate groups of various sizes.

The hotels will be built on the coast near the municipality of Benito Juárez, about 10 minutes from Cancún International Airport.

Hilton currently has more than 50 hotels and resorts open throughout Mexico, with nearly 30 more properties under development in the country.
