The dual-branded, 422-room Aloft and Element Austin Downtown, perfect for conference overflow, has opened in Texas. Instead of the usual ribbon-cutting, a ceremonial "first pitch" bean-bag was thrown in a game of cornhole on the rooftop deck.
The Aloft's 278 guest rooms feature a signature bed, while the 144 rooms at the Element have kitchens and Heavenly Beds. Both properties have refrigerators, iPod-docking stations and free WiFi.
The Aloft and Element share public spaces, including Caroline, a restaurant using local ingredients, as well as Upstairs at Caroline, a rooftop bar with open-air gaming space, serving street tacos, specialty cocktails such as adult snow cones, and a selection of local beers. Groups can utilize 3,000 square feet of meeting space.
