According to the Boston Business Journal, the Cambridge, Mass., license commission has issued a regulation banning full-service hotels from outsourcing housekeeping. The law prevents anyone who is not a hotel employee from entering a hotel room to which a guest has been given a key. In 2009, Hyatt Hotels Corp. fired the housekeepers at three Boston-area hotels and replaced them with workers from third-party companies. City councilor Marjorie Decker told the Journal that the issue is primarily public safety, but that Hyatt "didn't do themselves any favors in the public eye."
